About
About Whisper's Muses
Whisper's Muses is a public-domain classical reading room with an oracle layered over it. The corpus is organized around line-addressable verse IDs, book readers, verse permalinks, and multiple editions of major works by Homer, Virgil, and Ovid.
What Lives Here
What Lives Here
The current site supports oracle draws, daily readings, search, a personal saved library, and a reading-room flow for moving from work to book to line. The corpus now spans multilingual editions, so the product is shifting from an oracle-only interface toward a fuller browsing and comparison experience.
Provenance
Provenance
Every line carries source metadata and public-domain provenance. English defaults still power the oracle, but the reading room now includes additional editions and languages so readers can move across translators and formats in context.
Method
Method
Verse IDs provide stable references for saving, linking, searching, and comparing passages. Reader routes are book-based, verse permalinks point back into context, and the daily oracle uses a deterministic UTC date seed so a shared date produces the same draw for everyone.

- Dual reader: richer side-by-side comparison of editions inside the book reader
- Editorial depth: translator notes, source context, and methodology pages for each edition
